First Parish Truro is up to new things in 2024!
Our church has always been a place of respite and spiritual renewal, whether one visits for a single summer Sunday or the whole season. We love seeing the faces of visitors and members alike, and strive to make everyone feel as welcome as can be in a “come as you are” kind of way. We welcome those of all human identities and theological beliefs, while remaining dedicated to God’s call of unconditional love for others and all of creation. We enjoy the quaint beauty of our historic sanctuary and its idyllic location, often finding peacefulness just by being within its walls. And none of these things is changing.
What is changing is that our parish has committed itself to renewed community service in the form of a new intern, new programs, and new service outreach opportunities all throughout Summer 2024!
Welcome Pastor Claudia Alvarez, Minister of Community Outreach!
Pastor Claudia Alvarez is joining our parish staff as our Minister of Community Outreach, having graduated from the Boston University School of Theology in May 2024 with her Master of Divinity degree. There she worked with Rev. Chad on the seminary’s Worship Team, developing weekly worship for the seminary community.
Claudia has been hired as our Minister for Community Outreach for the Summer 2024 season. She will live in town and work full-time for the church with the goals of providing dynamic weekly spiritual community programming, engaging in community service on behalf of the church, and supporting Sunday worship. Claudia will begin her work on Sunday, June 23rd, and will finish on Sunday, August 25th, just in time to matriculate into the PhD program at Princeton Theological Seminary for the Fall 2024 semester.
