The First Parish of Truro, United Church of Christ, will host its first Free Movie Night on Sunday, July 17th, at 7:30pm, rain or shine. On this evening the church’s historic sanctuary will be transformed into a proper movie theater, complete with 12-foot inflatable screen, popcorn and movie snacks, to show a beloved Disney/Pixar film from 2015. This film has been named “the #1 Animated Film of All Time” according to the movie review website RottenTomatoes.com, which gives it an outstanding rating. The Oscar-winning movie gives insight into the five major emotions of a young girl whose family moves from the Midwest to a busy urban environment. Rev. Anastasia Kidd, co-pastor of First Parish Truro, notes that, “The church has a license for showing the film that limits our marketing the movie by name, but whether you’re ‘inside’ the Disney fandom or ‘out,’ you’ve probably heard of this film. Even if you’ve already seen it, it’s worth watching again.” Co-pastor Rev. Chad Kidd agrees, saying, “It’s fantastic for people of any age. We want to welcome the Outer Cape community in for a night of free fun. Come by yourself, with friends, your partner, a date, or your whole family.” An Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, First Parish Truro is known for welcoming the intersection of faith and popular culture. Several concerts, public lectures, and readings take place there each summer in addition to regular 10am Sunday services each week. The church is located at 3 Parish Lane; Truro, MA 02666.  All are welcome, parking is plentiful, and the building is wheelchair accessible.
